Christmas 2008

Brooke woke up first and saw the grocery carts and started screaming, of course a happy scream. Then she started calling "sissy." It was so cute. Presley slept a little longer but not much longer. Presley wasn't as excited because it takes her awhile to wake up but once she woke up she started playing with all the toys.
They got grocery carts, babies, Elmo, trains, little people castle, scooters, and a bunch of little things. Presley started eating her chocolate from her stocking as soon as she saw it she opened 4 pieces of chocolate and was putting it in her mouth and holding the rest, so some of it melted in her hand. She was a mess. Christmas morning is the only time they can have candy for breakfast.
We sang Happy Birthday to Jesus and that was the most important thing that they realize why we celebrate Christmas.
Mimi, poppy, uncle David, and aunt Dottie came over later and we had brunch. It was a fun day but we missed seeing Yaya and Jack. They were in Florida but we made sure to call them and wish them a Merry Christmas.
I am glad it is over but I will always cherish the memories we made with our children.

P.S. I almost forgot to tell you that Gary said I could update my kitchen for Christmas. He's the best husband ever. I love you and thank you honey.

Christmas with Clay and Josh

I know I am so behind with posting but the holidays have just kept me busy. The girls are out of school and have needed my attention most of the time.
We went to the Mathis house to exchange gifts. The girls had a lot of fun with the boys toys. I love the picture of Presley hugging the snowman. That smile will just melt your heart. She has been better about throwing her little fits. Thank goodness.
Brooke loved the work bench. She wouldn't leave it alone, that is until Clay and Josh got out all their train stuff. She loves trains! All of the kids played well together and had fun. We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends.

I just had to post these pictures because I loved all of them. Another great day at the park.



You are not going to believe this, but Brooke sat on Santa's lap at school. I have a picture to prove it but it is not digital so I won't be able to post on my blog. I couldn't believe it when I saw it, of course, she isn't crying but she isn't smiling either. I guess the fourth time was the one. She must have done it because the other kids did it. I don't carre at least che did it.
Saturday was Rita's Birthday and we met at a resturaunt off of Mckinney in Dallas called 4910. It was Delicious! Everything was wonderful but the best part was the company and spending time with girls. It is so hard to take time out but I realized it is important to take the time with friends. It was the perfect mix of girls and the day was fun. Happy Birthday Rita, it was great to spend the day with you. I took the whole day and had a me day and I definitely needed it. The girls are off til Jan. 5 and I think I will probably pull my hair out or add some more gray hair to my head. I think this week will be the hardest because next week they will have new toys to play with and keep them occupied. Yea!
We went to church this morning and this was the first time Presley cried when we left her ut of course she was fine when we picked her up. She must not have been having a good day. We also went to Sam's later in the day to pick up some Christmas movies because I realized we didn't have any on DVD. The girls haven't been watching TV but Brooke loves "The Polar Express." She calls it the Choo Choo Train movie. She absolutley loves trains. I think Santa is bringing her some for Christmas. She plays with them at school all the time. I can't wait! They are going to be fun this year.

Carriage Ride

we went to Grapevine on Sunday to let the girls see all the Christmas decorations and to ride in a horse drawn carriage. Thanks, Brenda for inviting us to tag along. The girls enjoyed the carriage ride once we got Presley to want to ride. She didn't want to go at first, I realized it was because she thought we were getting back in to her carseat. She didn't want to sit again. But once we were going she did fine.
They loved the Christmas decorations especially seeing Santa sleeping (Night Night)
We also went to eat with Tom and Brenda at Esparzas and surprisingly all the kids did well. We had to go back through the decorations once more after dinner so the girls could see it one more time. It was a fun day for such a warm December day.

Peyton's Visit

It was a fun visit with Peyton. They were like mama bears with Peyton. They were very protective of Peypey. It was so sweet to watch them with someone younger. Thanks Aunt Kellie for bringing Peyton to play.

Santa Again

Nope not this time either.
Well, we tried for the third time to get her to sit on Santa's lap and no luck. I guess we will give up for the 2008 year and try next year. Oh wait, they have Santa coming to the school. Do you think that will be the time? I'm not going to get my hopes up because if she hasn't done it now it probably isn't going to happen. I have enough pictures of us trying to show her when she gets older.
I have not been feeling well> I have lost my voice and am awakened by coughing in the night. I am ready for this to end. I feel like my children are suffering because I am not my normal self.
I picked up my Christmas cards and I love them. I need to feel better so I can get them out as soon as possible. I think everyone is a little behind this year because I have not received very many and usually by now I have received tons.
I am off to bed.

Mother Daughter Christmas Tea

Here are the pictures I promised you from the Christmas Tea. I took Elissa with me so she could help with the girls and I know I couldn't have done it without her. Thanks Elissa! It was exhausting. I hope next year will be easier. But it is worth it to let the girls experience different things. I want them to experience things I never did. Isn't that what we all want for our children?
I love the one photo of the girls looking out the door because they have seen Santa outside. Well, Presley once again sat in Santa's lap but Brooke wouldn't, so Santa had them sit in a chair together and he stood by them so I could get their picture together. Santa was on top of it.
The picture of the girls and I was the best we could do. That was a disaster. Right before that picture, we were outside and Brooke walked across Mrs. Polly's pool cover and her shoes and tights were soaking wet. I guess, to little kids it looks like ground they can walk on, but they don't realize until it happens that you can still get wet. Needless to say as soon as we got inside Brooke wanted her shoes and tights off. So if you notice in the pictures that Brooke is barefoot, that is why. All in all it was still a fun time with my children. I didn't get to visit with anyone but I have the memories and pictures with my children.

Big Girl Beds

This will be a short post because I am not feeling well. I think I must have a cold or something.
We had to put the girls in toddler beds this weekend. Brooke fell out of her bed the other night. She wasn't hurt but it scared me and made me realize we were lucky and next time we may not be so lucky. I wasn't ready for the switch but felt it was necessary.
The transition hasn't been so easy during nap time. They wouldn't go to sleep today and I needed them to take a nap because we were going to a Christmas Tea after their nap today. (I will post pics from that later) So I got them dressed and we left for the Tea and they fell asleep right away. They went right to sleep this evening.
I hope it gets easier.

Ho Ho Ho!

I took the girls to see Santa at a friends house. The girls were afraid at first but then warmed up. Well, Presley warmed up and actually set on Santa's lap but Brooke wouldn't have anything to do with Santa. She wouldn't even get close to him when she was in my lap as you can see from the picture. She had more fun eating her candy cane and playing with Clay and Josh. Presley sat on his lap several times and was so content and happy. I guess one out of two isn't bad.
One of their neighbors brought over their goats to see Santa and Presley absolutely loved the goats. All of the kids were feeding "Poppy" the goat candy canes. Presley was not afraid at all she thoroughly enjoyed it. Brooke loved the goats but was too involved in eating her candy cane to feed the goats. But when the goats had to leave she cried big crocodile tears because she didn't want the goats to leave. It was so cute to see that side of my children.
Santa had to go "night night," so we had to leave. On the way home Brooke and Presley kept saying, " Ho Ho, night night." Except for Presley says, "Oh, Oh night, night."
It was so special to see the girls eyes light up when they saw all the christmas lighta and of course the goats. Santa was right there at the top of the list once they warmed up to him. Thank you to Darla and Phil for inviting Santa to their home.
It was another fun filled adventure with the girls. Thanks to Elissa for going with the girls.

Checking It All Out

Daddy took this picture of the girls the other day and I just thought it was too cute.
The girls have really started to talk a lot more and repeating things I say. I really do love this stage right now except for the fit throwing. I hope that passes. They are just so darn cute right now and really starting to be funny and they think they are funny because they will do something and just laugh. I think Christmas will be fun this year. I can't wait.

Happy Thanksgiving

The girls made these pilgrim hats at school and I thought it would be appropriate to post a picture of them with the hats on for Thanksgiving. I tried to get them together but they kept taking them off, so I opted for separate photos. The pictures are okay, I envisioned better pictures but isn't that how it always happens.
If I ask the girls what a turkey says, they will say, "G-O-B-B-L-E G-O-B-B-L-E." It is much slower than we would say it. It is so priceless to hear the words come out of their mouth. I am also trying to teach them to say Happy Thanksgiving. They say it but if you didn't know you wouldn't understand the word Thanksgiving. It is so cute. I need to video it as soon as possible.
Daddy put the Christmas lights up tonight and the girls were so excited when we took them outside to see the lights. They ran around the yard making noises and falling down on the grass. It made me soak it all in through their eyes. Oh, to be young again.

Countdown to Christmas

I took a class last Tuesday and made this countdown to Christmas calendar. We started with a cookie sheet and this is the final project. I do have to change one of the numbers and put Happy Birthday on the Dec 3rd because that is daddy's birthday which that day is my least favorite so I guess it was in the cards to change that anyway. Thanks to Tracy for another great project.
One more final note, since this is Thanksgiving week I thought it only appropriate to let you all know that I am so thankful for my wonderful husband and my two adorable children, without them my life would not be complete. Thank you God for blessing me with these precious angels.

Happy 2nd Birthday

The girls loved the balloons. Presley woke up saying, "Boon, Boon" she was so excited. It was priceless just to hear the joy in her voice as she played with the balloons. They both started kicking them and throwing them in the air. They had a ball. I don't think they understood that it was their birthday but they sure had fun with the balloons. Someday they will know the difference but today it was the balloons that made them smile.
I showed the girls how to hold up two fingers. They can do it but I have to help them. Presley has got it down as you can see by the picture. Brooke can do it but really cares nothing about holding up the two fingers. She runs off and starts to play. Two little girls but yet so different.
We had a great day, went to lunch with The Woodruffs, took a nap, and had a impromtu play date with Aleck. I would say that was a fun Birthday.
